James Brown, RIP
JAMES BROWN DIES ON CHRISTMAS DAY
Soul legend James Brown has died in Atlanta, Georgia at the age of 73.
The singer was admitted to the city's Emory Crawford Long Hospital
yesterday suffering from pneumonia and passed away this morning at 1.45 am
(local time) with his longterm friend Charles Bobbit at his bedside.
Brown's agent Frank Copsidas announced the death, but revealed the cause
is still unknown.
Dubbed the 'Godfather of Soul', Brown enjoyed a hugely successful music
career spanning more than five decades. He recorded 50 albums and scored an
astonishing 119 hits in the US charts.
His hits included Get Up (I Feel Like Being Like A) Sex Machine, Papa's
Got A Brand New Bag and Please, Please, Please.
I am so glad I had the opportunity to photograph James Brown The first time was 3 years ago when he was 70 years old. He just blew me away. 70 years old and he moved like a 25 year old. What made it more special was that this performance was in Harlem, a part of NYC that James Brown loved and the part of NYC that is now my home. I also got to photograph him last year when he made a surprise appearance during a Black Eyed Peas concert at Madison Square Garden.
RIP James Brown. The music world lost a great one.

"The Good Sheperd" has it's World Premiere in NYC
the much anticipated "The Good Shepherd" had it's world premiere tonight at the Ziegfield Theater on West 54th Street. There were more photographers at this premiere than any other one this year, and the only 2 celebrities on the list were Angelina Jolie and Matt Damon, who star in the film. By 10am. the list was up to 33 photographers waiting for the 7pm premiere.
Everyone was HOPING that Brad Pitt would make an appearance, but no one thought it would happen. They have never posed before on the red carpet...until tonight. It was brief and over before you could blink an eye, but there they were.
Others present included Robert DeNire and his wife, Grace Hightower, Matt Damon and his wife Luciana, Billy Crudup, and Timothy Hutton

Beyonce Day in NYC
Monday December 4 was Beyonce Day in NYC. She was up bright and early for a wonderful performance on "The Today Show" at Rockefeller Plaza and then her "Dreamgirls" movie premiered at the Ziegfield Theater on West 54th Street in the evening. She delighted the crowd in the morning with two changes of clothes-first the evening gown, and then in jeans. This woman has it all-beauty, grace and a wonderful voice.

The Bayonne Bridge
Ever since seeing "The War of the Worlds" I became enthralled with the bridge that is seen towering over the home that Tom Cruise lived in. In the movie, the bridge was blown up as was the house he lived in. After some research, I discovered that the bridge is in my home state of New Jersey. I wanted, and needed to see it for myself.
Seeing it from 1000 feet above while my husband flies a helicopter is truly amazing but it is even more spectacular from the ground. As a child, bridges always scared me. Now, as an adult, and a photographer, they thrill me. They are so beautiful, and this bridge in particular is just beautiful. This month marks its 75th birthday.
I plan on going back to Bayonne often to photograph this bridge, and the neighborhood. The home Tom Cruise's character, Ray, lived in with the bridge in the backyard is photographically, beautiful.

Bob Dylan Tribute at Avery Fisher Hall
Hello. Welcome to my blog. Since I am a photographer, this is going to obviously be a photo blog. I will post images from things I shoot that move me.
Here, Cyndi Lauper and Jill Sobule pose backstage at the Bob Dylan tribute concert in NYC on November 9. It's amazing that such powerful voices come out of 2 very petite women.
